About the Club
The Maplewood Club, known to members as "The Little Club" or “MLC,” has been the center of tennis, community, and friendship in Maplewood, NJ, for over 100 years.
MLC’s culture is friendly, unpretentious and community-oriented. We value an active, accessible tennis experience over formality or exclusivity. Members take pride in the club and share in its day-to-day care; for example, members sweep their own courts and are required to provide at least 2 hours of volunteer time each season. With reasonably priced membership and programming, MLC welcomes players of varied ages, backgrounds and skill levels.
The Maplewood Club has 193 active family and individual memberships and a vibrant tennis community. It is growing steadily, with the addition of a satellite location and a waiting list of more than 60 families seeking membership. The MLC Board of Trustees, composed of volunteer leaders, manages the club. Trustees include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Tennis, Finance, Treasurer, Technology, Grounds, Courts, Membership, Communications, Social and House. In addition to a Tennis Director, the club employs a General Manager, a Caretaker and a Rental Agent.
