We are seeking a seasoned, business-minded Director of Tennis to join our senior management team to take operational and strategic ownership of 3 tennis centers across Austin.
This is an executive leadership position for an experienced business operator. As Director, you will serve on a small executive team as the engine of our facilities—driving operational efficiency, managing city contract relationships, leading a team of 50+, and taking complete accountability for operational success and financial growth.
Your primary mission is to provide high-level management and execution, eliminate operational friction, elevate team performance, and act as a true partner to ownership and the senior executive team to remove daily management overhead from the owner.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Team Management
Full Employee Lifecycle: Lead hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and offboarding for all staff across 3 locations.
Team Elevation & Culture: Build and sustain a high-performing, positive team culture grounded in accountability, clear feedback, and professional development.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Design, implement, and enforce structured SOPs across all locations to ensure order, consistency, and operational excellence.
2. Business Execution & Financial Ownership
P&L & Financial Health: Manage location budgets, monitor revenue drivers, control labor costs, and optimize profitability across all programs, court bookings, and retail operations.
City & Partner Relations: Manage local municipality/city contracts, ensuring compliance, seamless communication, and long-term partnership health.
Brand Integrity: Maintain high facility standards, guest satisfaction, and brand reputation across every customer touchpoint.
3. Operational Oversight & Problem Solving
Proactive Risk Management: Stay ahead of operational hurdles, facility needs, and staffing shortages before they impact the business or customer experience.
Autonomous Decision-Making: Exercise exceptional judgment to resolve complex client issues, operational conflicts, and team dynamics independently.
Executive Support: Identify systemic challenges, formulate actionable solutions, and execute them end-to-end to streamline operations for ownership.
Position Requirements
Leadership Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of progressive management experience leading large teams (20+ staff members required; 30+ across multiple sites strongly preferred).
Communication Skills: Executive-level written and verbal communication skills across all mediums (staff meetings, customer responses, municipal reporting, ownership briefings).
Financial & Business Acumen: Demonstrated experience managing facility P&Ls, city/municipal contracts, and operational budgets.
Operational Mastery: Proven track record of building and training staff on SOPs, scaling systems, and maintaining multi-site consistency.
Customer & Community Focus: Ability to balance customer satisfaction with core business goals, staff morale, and brand values.
