Tennis Director – Homeowners Association (HOA) Community
Reports to: Community Association Manager

Location: On-site at HOA tennis and racquet facility
Position Summary
The Tennis Director leads all tennis and racquet programming for the community. This person manages court operations, runs programs for all ages and ability levels, builds a welcoming social environment, and ensures the facility is safe, well maintained, and financially sustainable. The role combines teaching, program management, customer service, and light administration.
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Instruction
- Design and run year-round programming: private and semi-private lessons, group clinics, adult leagues, round robins, mixers, and junior programs
- Offer a pathway for all levels, from beginners to competitive players, including youth development and a junior team or camp
- Coach and teach personally, delivering a minimum number of lessons per week
- Organize events such as tournaments, social nights, and holiday events.
Facility & Court Operations
- Oversee court reservations, scheduling, and booking system
- Enforce court rules, etiquette, guest policies, and usage guidelines fairly and consistently
- Monitor court conditions and coordinate maintenance, resurfacing, lighting, nets, windscreens, and ball machines
- Manage pro shop or equipment inventory
- Report safety hazards and maintenance needs promptly to management
Staff Management
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate pros and front-desk attendants
- Ensure all staff are properly certified, background-screened, and trained in safety and customer service
- Set a professional, positive tone for the team
Member Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for residents regarding tennis matters
- Welcome new residents and help them connect with the tennis community
- Handle member concerns, disputes, and feedback diplomatically
- Communicate regularly via email, newsletters, and signage
- Attend Tennis Committee meetings as requested
Financial & Administrative
- Develop and manage the annual tennis budget, including revenue and expenses
- Track program registrations, lesson revenue, and fee collection
- Recommend pricing, program changes, and capital improvements
- Maintain accurate records, schedules, incident reports, and attendance data
- Comply with HOA policies, insurance requirements, and local regulations
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of tennis teaching or program management experience
- Professional teaching certification (USPTA or PTR)
- Strong playing and coaching ability across all levels
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Customer-service mindset suited to a residential community
- Ability to pass a background check
- Reliable and flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in sports management, business, or a related field
- Experience at a country club, resort, or HOA/community facility
- Familiarity with court-booking and club-management software PlaybyPoint
- Experience with junior development and adult league programming
- Basic budgeting and staff supervision experience
