A private country club in Greenwich CT is seeking a responsible and professional individual for a seasonal job who will oversee daily retail operations, inventory, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth, efficient, and customer-focused services. Key duties include managing merchandise, scheduling court bookings/lessons via systems like Jonas POS or Foretees, staff supervision, and driving sales, often requiring a strong background in customer service and a passion for tennis/pickleball.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Retail & Inventory Management: Oversee purchasing, receiving, tagging, and displaying tennis equipment, apparel, and accessories to maximize sales. Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory records.
- Operations & Administration: Manage opening/closing procedures, answer phones, process daily member charges (chits), and maintain cleanliness.
- Customer Service & Scheduling: Handle court reservations, lesson bookings, and tournament scheduling, ensuring a high-quality experience for members.
- Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise pro shop staff or reservationists, including creating weekly schedules.
- Marketing & Promotion: Assist team with Promotion of club events, clinics, and tennis programs.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience in retail management, customer service, or a tennis facility environment.
- Technical Proficiency if possible: Knowledge of point-of-sale (POS) systems, scheduling software (e.g., CourtReserve, Jonas), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of Tennis: Familiarity with tennis equipment, apparel, and the sport itself.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills to interact with members and staff.
Typical Working Conditions
The position generally requires working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment, often involving weekends, holidays and some evenings.
