This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the platform tennis program while providing year-round tennis instruction for juniors and adults. Role includes program development, coaching, event management, and member engagement within a private club setting.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic racquet sports professional with expertise in platform tennis and tennis instruction, program development, and member engagement in a private club environment. Experienced in delivering high-quality instruction for junior and adult players of all skill levels, while managing leagues, events, and seasonal programming that enhance participation and member satisfaction. Proven ability to grow racquet sports programs, foster a welcoming club culture, and provide exceptional on-court coaching through private lessons, clinics, and team training.
Duties & Responsibilities
Racquet Sports Instruction
- Provide private and group instruction in both tennis and platform tennis for juniors and adults ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
- Develop and lead junior development pathways, including beginner, intermediate, advanced, and competitive training programs.
- Design and implement adult clinics, drill sessions, and strategy-based programs focused on skill development, match play, and fitness.
- Coach players in technique, tactics, match play strategy, and mental preparation to support individual improvement and competitive success.
- Deliver personalized lesson plans tailored to each player’s goals, skill level, and athletic development.
Program Development & Leadership
- Manage and grow the platform tennis program, including leagues, tournaments, clinics, and special events.
- Organize and oversee adult leagues and team play, promoting participation and competitive opportunities for members.
- Develop seasonal racquet sports programming designed to increase engagement among junior players, adult recreational players, and competitive athletes.
- Coordinate and execute club events that strengthen the racquet sports community and enhance the overall member experience.
Club Engagement & Member Services
- Build strong relationships with members through high-level instruction, communication, and customer service.
- Assist in promoting racquet sports programming, memberships, and pro shop merchandise.
- Support club initiatives to increase member participation and retention within racquet sports programs.
- Represent the club in a professional and welcoming manner at all times.
Operations & Administration
- Schedule and track private lessons, group clinics, leagues, and court usage.
- Maintain accurate reporting of lessons, programs, and events.
- Attend staff meetings and collaborate with club leadership on racquet sports initiatives.
- Ensure programs operate efficiently while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and organization.
- Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Schedule & Pay
- This is a full-time salary position working approximately 40+ hours per week, often with evening and weekend requirements.
- Some flexibility may be required based on department needs.
- The salary range is between $80,000 and $120,000 per year.

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health, or related field
(or equivalent education and professional experience.)
- 5.0+ level competitive tennis player with competitive platform tennis experience.
- Extensive knowledge of tennis and platform tennis instruction techniques.
- Ability to teach large junior groups, adult clinics, competitive teams, and private lessons.
- Experience developing racquet sports programming that increases participation and revenue.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative club environment.
- Certified Tennis Professional – RSPA or PTR (or equivalent experience.)
- CPR/AED Certified (or obtained within 90 days.)
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position involves:
- Working outdoors, frequently in adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold, wind, sun, rain, and snow/ice.
- Constant standing, walking, and movement on the court, including running, stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Regular lifting or moving of 25–30 pounds, with occasional requirements to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to demonstrate strokes, footwork, and techniques in group, semi-private, and private lessons.
- High level of hand-eye coordination to handle equipment, including racquets and paddle balls.
- Ability to monitor students' safety and skill levels from a distance, along with the ability to communicate verbally.
- This is not a remote work position.
