Croasdaile Country Club is proud to be celebrating 60 years of our rich history that stems from one family's commitment to the community. The club was established in 1966 by Drs. Frances & Herbert Fox on farmland inherited from Frances Fox's father, John Sprunt Hill, a prominent Durham financier and community leader. They developed a neighborhood that offered beautiful homes, a professionally designed, championship golf course, tennis, swimming, and, now, pickleball facilities. An elegant clubhouse was built as the focal point of the community where neighbors and friends could gather to enjoy a relaxed and gracious atmosphere.
The name "Croasdaile" was derived from one of Hill's trips to Ireland where he met an Irish family with the name Croasdaile and later chose the name for one of his dairy farms.
The Croasdaile Golf Course has a storied history. It was designed in 1966 by renowned architect George W. Cobb and redesigned in 2002 by his former associate, award-winning golf course architect, John LaFoy. LaFoy is responsible for some of the most notable courses in the South and assisted in the redesign of Augusta National Golf Course.
The Club has experienced significant membership growth in recent years, with the average member age now approximately 57. This evolving membership presents opportunities to develop programs that appeal to a broad range of interests, abilities, and generations.
Croasdaile has also made significant investments in its racquet’s facilities, including the addition of four dedicated pickleball courts in 2025 and the conversion of two hard courts to ClayTech courts in 2026. These investments reflect the Club’s commitment to maintaining attractive, contemporary, and well-utilized amenities.
The Club’s strategic plan emphasizes membership growth and retention, high-quality facilities, investment in employees, and engaging programs that foster a welcoming culture. The Director of Racquets will contribute directly to these priorities by delivering exceptional racquets experiences, encouraging participation, maintaining high standards, and creating opportunities for members to connect through tennis and pickleball.
