The Assistant Tennis & Pickleball Professional supports the daily operations and overall success of the racquet sports program by delivering high-quality instruction and providing exceptional service to members and guests. This role is responsible for assisting with court scheduling, reservations, and general facility usage while ensuring that all courts and racquet areas are properly prepared and maintained to meet club standards. The professional will conduct private and group lessons in both tennis and pickleball, contribute to the development and execution of junior and adult programs, and actively promote participation to help grow overall program engagement and revenue. In addition, the role involves assisting with the planning and execution of tournaments, mixers, leagues, and social events, while fostering a positive and engaging environment for players of all ages and skill levels.
The position also includes supporting interclub and in-house league coordination, assisting members with team formation, match scheduling, and communication, and providing feedback during matches and clinics when appropriate. Responsibilities extend to pro shop operations, including merchandising, inventory management, retail sales, and offering product recommendations, as well as stringing racquets and assisting members with program registrations. The professional is expected to maintain the cleanliness and organization of courts and surrounding areas, monitor court conditions, report maintenance needs, and ensure that all equipment is in proper working order, including daily setup and grooming of clay courts and organization of teaching equipment.
Candidates should have prior experience in a racquet sports or private club environment, a strong playing background in tennis and/or pickleball, and hold relevant certifications such as RSPA or USTA Coaching. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred, along with three to five years of experience in a similar role. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, a professional and energetic demeanor, and the ability to engage members across all levels. This role requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays, the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for extended periods and lifting equipment, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of professionalism and service in a fast-paced, member-focused environment.
