Job Summary:
The Director of Tennis is responsible for overseeing all aspects of racquet sports programming at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. This includes the management and development of tennis, pickleball, and other racquet activities to enhance member engagement and service quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in racquet sports, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to cultivating a welcoming and vibrant racquet sports community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development:
a. Design, implement, and promote a diverse range of racquet sports programs, including clinics, tournaments, leagues, and social events.
b. Collaborate with club management to ensure programs align with member interests and club objectives.
c. Collaborate across departments for the annual TAGS program and other social events that may be created around racquet sports.
d. Other duties as assigned.
2. Staff Management:
a. Recruit, train, and supervise racquet sports staff, including instructors, and support personnel, and shop attendants.
b. Conduct regular staff meetings to set goals, provide training, and ensure high service standards.
3. Member Engagement:
a. Foster a welcoming environment for all members and their guests, promoting the benefits of racquet sports.
b. Engage with members regularly to gather feedback, assess needs, and enhance program offerings.
4. Facility Management:
a. Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all racquet sports facilities, including courts and equipment, ensuring safety and optimal playing conditions.
b. Maintain all Tennis Courts and Rubico Courts daily for optimal playing.
c. Coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs and upgrades as necessary.
d. Estimated time on facility management is 10 hours weekly.
5. Financial Management:
a. Develop and manage the budget for racquet sports programs, ensuring profitability and sustainability.
b. Analyze program performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize offerings.
6. Marketing and Promotion:
a. Work with Communications Coordinator to create promotional materials and communication strategies to highlight upcoming events and programs.
b. Utilize social media and other platforms to enhance visibility and engagement.
7. Continuous Improvement:
a. Stay current with industry trends, innovations, and best practices to implement improvements in programming and operations.
b. Attend workshops and conferences to further professional development and networking.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in racquet sports management or coaching, with a proven track record of program development and member engagement.
- Strong knowledge of tennis, pickleball, and other racquet sports, including rules, techniques, and coaching methods.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate member schedules and events.
- Certification from a recognized racquet sports organization (e.g., PTR, USPTA) is preferred.
Physical Demand and Work Environment
- Ability to control natural swing speed during instruction or matches with inexperienced players.
- Sufficient stamina to tolerate hot and humid outdoor weather for several consecutive hours.
