Position Overview
The Head Tennis Professional - Adults at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center is a highly visible leadership role within one of the world’s most iconic tennis facilities. Reporting to the Director of Tennis Operations and working closely with the Head Tennis Professional - Junior Development, Sr Business Manager, Programs Office staff, and leading their direct reports, this position is ideal for a passionate, experienced professional who can immediately step into a fast-paced environment and hit the ground running in both on-court delivery and program development. The successful candidate will establish trust and respect with a diverse team of experienced and developing professionals while overseeing established, high-demand weekday programming—including morning classes—and continuously elevating lesson planning, content creation, and the overall player experience.
This role includes 28 on-court hours each week within a minimum work week of at least 35 hours, along with administrative responsibilities related to player relations, staff leadership, scheduling, and overall program support. The Head Tennis Professional will also provide and coordinate appropriate professional development for tennis professionals and serve as an effective liaison between the NTC, its customers, and relevant external organizations.

Primary Responsibilities and Qualifications
Programming & Instruction
Lead Adult Daytime Programming in an on-court capacity.
Develop, implement, and oversee instructional programs, including private lessons and group clinics across a wide range of days/times to meet the varying needs and schedules.
Create and deliver new programs to enhance engagement and expand competitive opportunities through organized play options.
Create and promote a variety of social events across various times, including evenings and weekends.
Develop robust, competitive junior pathways aligned with USTA standards to advance skill growth and long-term player development.
Develop and coordinate a robust NTC Adult League program.
Develop Adult seasonal offerings, including, but not limited to camps and community socials.
Conduct group clinics and private instruction for all players, with an emphasis on adults.
Assist with event and tournament hosting as needed, in concert with the leadership of the NTC.
Integrate USTA junior and adult strategic priorities into on-court programming.
Coaching Leadership & Staff Development
Collaborate in the onboarding, training, and leading of tennis professionals in best-in-class tennis coaching methods for the daytime market.
Co-manage weekend tennis staff professionals in concert with the Head Professional - Junior Development.
Monitor the Tennis Professionals in the Adult and Youth programs to ensure that all lessons and programs meet the standards set by the Director of Tennis Operations.
Assist with the execution of all Pro Staff training held at the NTC.
Plan, generate, and maintain appropriate documents and paperwork. I.e., Agendas and lesson plans, progress reports.
Promote the USTA through customer service, hospitality, friendliness, and goodwill among patrons.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience
At least ten years of total experience as a Tennis Professional with at least five years in a role that includes leadership responsibilities.
Demonstrates a high level of tennis acumen, on-court tennis coaching skills, and a proven ability to effectively communicate and teach tennis to all levels and ages.
Ability to demonstrate or present current innovative teaching methods effectively.
Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to train and manage Tennis Professionals through a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Experienced in organizing and managing pathways from player introduction to skill-appropriate playing opportunities.
Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
Candidates should hold, or be willing to obtain, USTA Coaching Certification, Safe Play compliance, RSPA Elite Certification, and/or PTR certification.
A college degree is preferred, but not required.
A minimum of 28 on-court hours per week are expected for this role which are scheduled through the Court Reserve court booking system.
Position is considered exempt and 100% onsite at the NTC.
Travel
Attend various clinics, meetings, or workshops as assigned by the Director of Tennis Operations.

Compensation & Benefits
The base salary range for this position is targeted at $100,000-$120,000. A bonus incentive program is offered, which is targeted at up to 5% of the base salary.
